GROUP REITERATES COMMITMENTS TO DEGHELE DECLARATION

You cannot claim what does not belong to you without resistance from the real owners.

... Hausa quarter is in Warri but the Hausas cannot claim ownership as such Ijaws cannot claim ownership of Okerenghigho just because they have live there for years.

... The Federal Government must see to the relocation of the headquarter of Warri South West Local Government from Ogbe-Ijoh to Ogidigben, its gazetted location.

The Itsekiri National Youths Council, has reiterated the commitment of Itsekiri Youths to its declaration that all forms of oppression, Marginalization, deprivation and illegal occupying of Iwere land without recourse to the Itsekiri people will not be accepted and would be strongly resisted. This was made known today (4th July, 2017) by the President of the Council, Comr Weyinmi Agbateyiniro in a discuss with channels television "SunRise Daily".

Comr. Agbateyiniro stated that no normal human being will watch his property or possession being taken from him/her without some form of resistance, as such the Itsekiri ethnic Nationality will not fold its arm while its possession is being taken by some criminal minded persons all in the name of given peace a chance.

Citing different court judgements/pronoucements in favour of the Itsekiris, the Youth leader, berated the Government at all level for allowing criminality, submitting that the Itsekiris are peace loving people but her peaceful disposition is being taken for granted and mistaken for weakness. To further buttress his point, he query the Government for having gazetted the headquarter of Warri South West to be sited at Ogidigben but illegally relocated to Ogbe-Ijoh yet closes its eyes against this aberration, noted that except the Government is seen as promoting and ensuring that irrespective of who is involved, Justice and rule of law must be obeyed, in the absence of these peace cannot be attained.

The Itsekiri Nation is not against the Maritime University but against the illegal acquisition of the land which belongs to the Itsekiri people of Omadino and naming of the University, the statement reads.
