Fayose says APC behind call for postponement of Edo election.

Fayose says APC behind call for postponement of Edo election.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose,  condemned the call for the postponement of the Edo State governorship election by the Department of State Services, and the Police, alleging that it it is the handiwork of troubled All Progressives Congress in the state.

“It is obvious that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is challenged and afraid of losing the election and the party is using the federal government security agencies to cause a postponement of the election so as to be able to perfect its new rigging plans.”

The governor, who raised the alarm that “democracy is in danger” under the APC government, said; “obviously, within two years of APC government, Nigeria is in both economic and political recession and this should worry all true lovers of the country,” Fayose said.

He spoke through Lere Olayinka, special assistant on Public Communications and New Media.

Fayose said he was worried that “democracy in Nigeria has now graduated from inconclusive elections to postponement of elections in other to return APC candidates at all cost.”

He said, “Within two year, the APC government not only destroyed the economy of Nigeria, it has destroyed the legacy of free, fair and credible electoral process bequeathed on the country by the PDP.”

The governor said; “The questions Nigerians must ask the APC-led federal government are: what security threat can overcome over 50,000 security personnel in an election holding in just one out of the 36 States in Nigeria? If election must be postponed in just one State because of security threat, what will then happen in 2019 when elections will be conducted in the entire country?

“Another question is: were they unaware of the security challenge when President Mohammadu Buhari went to Edo State to campaign for the APC yesterday?

“No doubt, this is a game being played by the APC because it has become so imminent that the party cannot win the election if it is held on Saturday as scheduled.

“The postponement is obviously meant to give room for the APC to perfect a new rigging strategy and lovers of democracy in Nigeria should begin to see how the APC aims at perpetuating itself in power beyond 2019 even now that the party has been rejected by Nigerians.”

Gov Okowa, His Personal Secretary Not Responsible For My Encounter With EFCC

Gov Okowa, His Personal Secretary Not Responsible For My Encounter With EFCC

GOV OKOWA , HIS PERSONAL SECRETARY NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MY ENCOUNTER WITH EFCC -Tony Obuh.

An ex-gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State, Sir Tony Obuh has reacted to media reports alleging that he was being harassed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC because he contested against governor Okowa.

In the report, it was alleged that the state Governor Ifeanyi Okowa through his principal secretary Hilary Ibegbulem flew in EFCC officials to arrest and prosecute Obuh for allegedly contesting against him during the 2014 governorship primaries of PDP.

However, reacting to the reports, Obuh through his media aide, Mr. Williams Eghebi disclosed that the reports, ''to a great extent, 'padded' the crux of the encounter.''

Continuing, Eghebi said; ''Mr. Obuh, having served Delta State for more than thirty two years, retiring as Permanent Secretary, is aware that his actions would be exposed to scrutiny. Therefore, any invitation to clarify his actions or inactions forms part of his post retirement expectations. His interaction with the anti graft agency remains part of his responsibility to his beloved state.

''Happily however, his recent encounter with the EFCC should not be linked to any person or institution. And if such instance exists, I will not hesitate to make it public. He is celebrated for his thoroughness, transparency and due diligence in accordance to civil service guidelines.''

The media aide further said that though they are aware that some of them are proponents of vindictive politics but that there is nothing so far to suggest that Mr. Obuh was a victim of such vitriolic politicking.

PDP Convention: I was under house arrest, says Fayose

The Ekiti State Governor,  Ayo Fayose, said on Wednesday that he was placed under house arrest by security operatives at the old President Lodge of the Government House in Rivers State.

Odesanya said, “That can’t be true; it is not to my knowledge. How did other excellencies (governors) move out of the place?”

INEC Recruiting APC members as Ad-Hoc Staff for Edo 2016 Gubernatorial Election – PDP

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Edo State of recruiting All Progressive Congress (APC) loyalist as Ad-Hoc staff ahead of the forthcoming 2016 Edo State Gubernatorial election.

The Party raised the alarm on Saturday August 20, 2016 in a press statement by its Chief Spokesman, Prince Dayo Adeyeye saying that there is a video evidence exposing INEC officials in Edo state of compromising the outcome of the gubernatorial election before the scheduled Saturday, September 10, 2016 poll.

“We have once again uncovered another plot by the Electoral umpire in Edo State to rig the Gubernatorial election in favour of the government in Power in the state. There are clear evidence available to us showing how INEC officials are recruiting APC members as Ad-Hoc staff to rig the election for the APC candidate in the Saturday, September  10, 2016 governorship election in the State” Prince Adeyeye said.

The PDP Spokesman warned that the Party will not tolerate any act of sabotage and advised the electoral umpire to recruit neutral and credible Nigerians without partisan interest as Ah-Hoc staff to maintain their neutrality in the process.

“We will not accept anything short of free, fair and credible process leading to the Saturday, September 10, Gubernatorial poll in Edo State. We wish to assure INEC and the APC of our cooperation for a successful election but will not accept an election that is already compromised before the actual poll”

The Party concluded that INEC should avoid inconclusive election in Edo State and put everything together for a hitch free poll.

IZE-IYAMU SIGNS DEVELOPMENT PACT WITH IYEKOGBA COMMUNITIES.

The campaign tour of the governorship candidate of the Peoples' Democratic Party, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu took a new dimension at his meeting with delegates of Iyekogba Communities made up of fifty-three (53) villages in Oredo Local Government Area.

At the meeting with the council of Enigie, elders and youth leaders of the communities which took place at the palace of the chairman of the Enigie, HRH Anthony Osayemwenre, the Enogie of Umegbe, the PDP candidate was presented with a wish list in the form of a written document. In the list was the request for the construction of roads, schools and appointment of indigenes into influential positions in government.

According to His Royal Highness, Anthony Osayemwenre, the communities had resolved that their support for any candidate would be dependent on his going into a signed agreement with them. He lamented that in spite of their size and contribution to the determination of the electoral process, Iyekogba Communities have always lacked government impact by way of provision of necessary infrastructure. He stated that this time around, their demands have been spelt out in black and white and it would become a reference point when the candidate is elected governor.

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu said that he was delighted at the initiative of the communities which he said he would have no difficulty signing because all the requests were in consonance with his development drive and that of the PDP, which members at the national assembly had demonstrated a commitment to in Edo State. He used the occasion to introduce his written manifesto titled the SIMPLE Agenda which articulates in practical terms how he intends to achieve his development goals.

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu drew the attention of the members of the communities to a page in his SIMPLE Agenda document where he specifically mentioned the construction of the roads in Iyekogba and which would link them to Ekewan Communities in Ovia North East Local Government Area. He said that beyond the facilities requested, he desires to bring industrialization to Iyekogba so as to enhance the economy of the place as well as create jobs for members of the communities. He also spoke about his plan for farm support and empowerment.

Thereafter Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu proceeded to sign the agreement with the communities.

Meanwhile, at the campaign rally ground, Pastor Ize-Iyamu said that it was regrettable that eight years after Governor Adams Oshiomhole promised to develop Iyekogba, nothing was done. He said that instead, the governor concentrated sixty-five percent (65%) of his development effort in his village, Iyamho. Ize-Iyamu called on the people to reject APC which is a continuation of the selfish agenda of Governor Adams Oshiomhole, saying that he and the PDP has the welfare of the people of Edo State at heart.
