Gov Okowa, His Personal Secretary Not Responsible For My Encounter With EFCC

GOV OKOWA , HIS PERSONAL SECRETARY NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MY ENCOUNTER WITH EFCC -Tony Obuh.

An ex-gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State, Sir Tony Obuh has reacted to media reports alleging that he was being harassed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC because he contested against governor Okowa.

In the report, it was alleged that the state Governor Ifeanyi Okowa through his principal secretary Hilary Ibegbulem flew in EFCC officials to arrest and prosecute Obuh for allegedly contesting against him during the 2014 governorship primaries of PDP.

However, reacting to the reports, Obuh through his media aide, Mr. Williams Eghebi disclosed that the reports, ''to a great extent, 'padded' the crux of the encounter.''

Continuing, Eghebi said; ''Mr. Obuh, having served Delta State for more than thirty two years, retiring as Permanent Secretary, is aware that his actions would be exposed to scrutiny. Therefore, any invitation to clarify his actions or inactions forms part of his post retirement expectations. His interaction with the anti graft agency remains part of his responsibility to his beloved state.

''Happily however, his recent encounter with the EFCC should not be linked to any person or institution. And if such instance exists, I will not hesitate to make it public. He is celebrated for his thoroughness, transparency and due diligence in accordance to civil service guidelines.''

The media aide further said that though they are aware that some of them are proponents of vindictive politics but that there is nothing so far to suggest that Mr. Obuh was a victim of such vitriolic politicking.
