DR EMMANUEL UDUAGHAN GIANTS STRIDES IN THE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR
By Olueh Eddy
Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan though no longer the Delta State Governor but his giants strides speaks volumes even after leaving office over one year ago. One wonder if any government can ever surpass his achievements in the educational sector.
Prior to Dr Uduaghan administration, almost all school infrastructure was in dilapidated state. It was so bad that no parent want to enrol his/her child in government own school which was largely due to poor altitude of teachers and the dilapidated nature of our school structures, private schools sprang up in every available space even with poor facilities, that most parents do not want to enrol their child/ward in public schools.
The Uduaghan administration took a giant steps by declaring a state of emergency in the State educational sector. True to his words "No child in Delta State will ever study in a non conducive environment". Today many public primary and secondary schools in Delta State now has a befitting and conducive environment for learning, ranging from class room accommodation, laboratories and other instructional materials, thanks to a visionary leader, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan.
The traditional old school structures and poor facilities in most public schools across the state gave way for ultra modern school structures that can compete with any in Nigeria.
In his desired that every Delta child must be educated, set up a monitoring team code named "EDU-MARSHAL" saddle with the sole responsibility of ensuring that every eligible Delta child remain at school during school hour, no child was found hawking or roaming the streets without the fear of Edu-marshal.
The educational reform policy of the Uduaghan administration has turned over 50 public schools in the State into classic citadel of learning.
Today, the Okowa administration is building on the foundation and legacy of the Uduaghan administration.
Indeed, His Excellency, Dr Emmanuel Iwetan Uduaghan has written his name boldly as the man with the vision and a mission to ensure a better and conducive learning environment for our wards
Thank you, Your Excellency Dr Emmanuel Iwetan Uduaghan for transforming our public schools to an enviable position.
God bless Delta State.
