Construct Concrete Roads/High Way, Sunny Onuosoke Advice South South Governors

CONSTRUCT CONCRETE ROADS/HIGH WAY, SUNNY ONUOSOKE ADVICES SOUTH SOUTH GOVERNORS

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has advice the South South Governors to consider concrete roads/Highway construction instead of using asphalt due to the topography of the environment.

Chief Onuesoke stated this while playing host to the SMART Ambassadors Coordinator, Comr Olueh Eddy in his office (31-08-16)

Chief Onuesoke, noted  that Roads play a very important part in any nation’s infrastructure, hence their construction, maintenance, and the vehicles that travel over them, consume large amounts of resources.

He further stated that Concrete roads are durable and safe. They are considerably less prone to wear and tear defects like rutting, cracking, loss of texture, and potholes that can occur with Asphalt road  surfaces. This low maintenance requirement is one of the principal advantages of concrete roads, hence his recommendation.

The PDP Stewart, said research has shown that Concrete road's life can range anywhere from 20-40 years. But when factor in annual maintenance, asphalt roads can cost four to seven times as much money to maintain. This saves the government long-term on repair and maintenance.

According to Chief Onueseke, Considering the Environmental Differences, Concrete is 100% recyclable, and the most recycled construction material in the world.

Another benefit of using concrete as opposed to asphalting is a reduced need for street lighting, due to higher surface reflectivity after dark.

On the Ughelli-Asaba road dualization, Onueseke stated that paucity of fund is the major constraints in completing the road and pleads with Deltans to continue supporting the Okowa led administration.
